Everything you need to know about the Hermes Picotin

Black Hermes Picotin, Gold Hermes Picotin

The Hermes Picotin is not the most coveted bag Hermes offers, but it can be a gateway bag to one of the highly desired quota bags.

Let's talk a little bit about what makes the Hermes Picotin's heritage, how much is an Hermes Picotin, and a little more about it how it can be a necessary purchase if you are playing the Hermes game.

Most of the bags Hermes offers today are a nod to the brand's rich heritage of catering to the equestrian world and the Picotin is no exception. This bag draws inspiration from the shape of horses oat feeders, and has a short top handle meant to mimic absent-mindedly swinging your bag as you carry it around in a carefree fashion to feed your trusted companions.

The Picotin is free from any logos and obvious branding, and has a completely different shape from the the Kelly or the Birkin.

It has a soft, supple, and organic rounded shape, leaning into feminine curves, giving it a clean look with a seem running down the centre, fastened by a lock. This is an unlined bag, leaving the interior in its raw beauty. The non-fussy exposed leather allows you to experience it's full natural beauty.

The Hermes Picotin is unlined and has clean edges, the Picotin bag has a naturally understated appearance. Ever so supple, it proudly displays its use of softer and more supple choices of leather, joined together by one central seam.

The Hermes Picotin has a very generous spacious interior. There are no compartments, staying true to it's bucket bag roots. While it has no organisation element, it does have an adjustable tab, which adds an air of sophistication to to the otherwise simple design, complete with the elegant Hermes padlock. The Picotin is all about exploration and freedom. There are no limitation to the flexibility of the Hermes Picotin, it is an incredibly versatile choice of bag.

The Picotin comes in three sizes. All three bags accommodate room for you essentials, only varying in perhaps casualness of use. The smallest size of course can be used more as an evening companion, whereas the largest size may be better suited for day to day use.

Compared to the Hermes Evelyne, another fantastic everyday bag choice, the Picotin may be the best bag for you if you love flexibility of space. The Evelyne is elongated narrow shape compared to the Picotin's stout round organic shape and can fit certain essentials more comfortably than the Evelyne.

Fetching a higher price than the Evelyne, the Picotin is a bag that can help you become a candidate for a quota bag if you are playing the Hermes Game. Why? Because it may show that you are not only after only a quota bag, having a Picotin "proves" to Hermes that you are a loyal client to the brand beyond wanting a Birkin or a Kelly.

Regardless of acquiring a Picotin all for the sake of the Hermes game, what do you think, is the Hermes Picotin a bag you'd love to have?
